In high school I would always make a B in english, no matter what. I would get A's on all the tests and quizzes, but C's on every single timed writing. My first draft of everything I write tends to be the worst thing I've ever written again and again. My thoughts get scrambled and I go off on tangents without thinking twice. It is in fact a shitty first draft. The shitty first draft doesn't mean you're a bad writer even though AP exams and high school english teachers make it seem that way, and Lamott proves just that.
